Giovanni Cristino, composer and pianist. Born in Mola di Bari on 11/23/1987. Graduated under the guidance of M° Gianni Lenoci, in Jazz Piano [I Level, 2012] and Jazz Music [II Level, 2014] at the Monopoli Conservatory N. Rota.
He is currently active in the fields of jazz and improvised music with some groups: Free Walking Trio, DDM duo, BKK ensemble [coordinator and conductor], solo performances.
He regularly participates in artistic residences since 2012, not only as a musician, but also as a visual artist [Con.Divisione, Fòcare]. He collaborates with artist Alisia Cruciani in the realization of visual and sound installations [“Non smetti di esistere” 2017, “Rature #2” 2015, “Opera al buio” 2015, “bamboo, felt, emersions” 2013, etc.).
In winter 2016 he designed and conducted, together with Giuseppe Pascucci, “LABANANALAB”: three preparatory workshops on improvised music within the project “GROOVE YOUR TALENT” held at “Casa dell Arti” in Conversano.
He performed and collaborated with national and international artists such as Gianni Lenoci, Gianni Mimmo, Vinny Golia, Eugenio Colombo, Marc Ducret, Steve Potts and attended workshops with Kent Carter, William Parker, Greg Burk, Sylvano Bussotti, Keith Tippet, Steve Potts, Marc Ducret, Daniele Bravi. He released “Mind Our Business” Free Walking Trio [Angapp, 2017], “Silences, des falaises et des caniveaux rares” [Sonorus, 2017] in duo with Walter Forestiere [percussion, objects] and “01” solo for prepared piano and field recordings [fisherground, 2017].
